Privacy at Crownly
Last updated: October 2026
Crownly helps you focus. To do that, it needs almost nothing from you. Most of it stays on your iPhone. Here is exactly what goes where.
In short
- Your focus rounds, your kingdom, your gold and your achievements stay on your iPhone.
- We never see which apps you lock. iOS handles that through Screen Time, on your device.
- Usage statistics are sent only if you agree. They are anonymous and run on servers in the EU.
- No ads, no tracking across other companies' apps, no selling of data.
- No account, no email address, no password.

1. What is stored only on your iPhone
This data lives in the app's storage on your device. We don't receive it.
- Your name, if you enter one (optional)
- Your onboarding answers: what matters to you, what distracts you, your estimated screen time
- Your focus rounds (start, length, finished or interrupted), gold, achievements, shop purchases, kingdoms, today's plan
- Your settings (round length, reminders, haptics)
If you use iCloud Backup for your iPhone, this data is included like with any app. Apple manages that backup, not us. Deleting the app removes the data from your iPhone.
2. App lock (Screen Time)
App lock uses Apple's Screen Time interface (Family Controls). You choose the apps in a window provided by Apple. Crownly only receives encrypted placeholders, not names. So we cannot see which apps you choose or how long you use them. Your choice stays on your iPhone and is only applied during a focus round. You can withdraw the permission at any time in iOS Settings under Screen Time.
3. Notifications
Reminders ("Round finished", daily reminder) are scheduled directly on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else for that.
4. Usage statistics (PostHog), only with your consent
After onboarding, Crownly asks once whether it may send anonymous usage statistics. Until you agree, they are off. If you agree, Crownly sends anonymous events to PostHog so we can see what helps and what doesn't. Examples: "paywall shown", "achievement claimed", "shop purchase" with the item's name.
- What is sent: the event, the app language, the app version, the device model and iOS version, the app being opened and closed, and a random ID created only for these statistics.
- What is not sent: your name, your onboarding answers, your tasks, the apps you lock. We don't build a profile of you and we don't record your screen.
- IP address: it is transmitted for technical reasons when sending, but PostHog does not store it.
- Where: PostHog Inc., servers in the EU (Frankfurt).
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time in Crownly's settings under "Anonymous usage statistics". After that the app sends nothing, and the random ID is reset.
- Retention: at most 12 months.
Without your consent, Crownly sends no statistics.
5. Crownly Plus (subscription)
Crownly is used with the Crownly Plus subscription. There is no free tier, only a free trial week at the start. Payment runs through the App Store and is handled by Apple. We see neither your name nor your payment details.
So that your subscription works on all your devices, we use RevenueCat (RevenueCat Inc., USA). RevenueCat checks whether your subscription is active and receives Apple's purchase receipts from the app (product, purchase date, trial, expiry), a random customer ID, the country of your App Store account, the device model and the iOS version.
- Legal basis: performance of your subscription contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Transfer to the USA: based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Retention: as long as the subscription exists, and afterwards as long as legal retention duties apply.
You can cancel at any time in your iPhone's Settings under Apple ID → Subscriptions.
6. Friends (Game Center), optional
The friends' leaderboard uses Apple's Game Center. Crownly only signs in when you open "Friends". Then your total focus minutes for this week are sent to Game Center. Your Game Center friends see your Game Center name and these minutes. iOS asks you first whether Crownly may see your friends list. Apple's privacy policy applies to Game Center. We receive no further data about you or your friends.
7. What we don't do
- No ads and no ad networks
- No tracking across other companies' apps and websites (that's why Crownly never asks for "App Tracking")
- No selling or sharing of your data for advertising
- No account, no email address, no location, no access to camera, photos or contacts
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent. Just write to info@yzdigitalstudio.com.
Because the statistics are anonymous, we often cannot link data to a person. A note on roughly when you used the app helps. Everything that lives only on your iPhone you delete yourself by deleting the app.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.
9. Children
Crownly is meant for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
If anything in this policy changes, the new date appears here. For important changes we'll let you know in the app.
